Sun, Sand & Fun in Musandam

murdochMusandamTrip.jpg  For the first time in Murdoch University Dubai history, students made an out of country trip to Musandam, Oman to soak up the sun, surf and sand on a dhow cruise that set sail amidst a picturesque landscape.

Students set off on a bright summer morning in June and were   energized by the warm water and cool winds which offered reprieve  from the sun’s hot rays. The group took shelter on the dhow and  enjoyed a buffet lunch and music while taking in the majestic  panorama of rugged coast, craggy rocks and deep blue sea.

The rest and relaxation were a welcome break from the summer term and allowed students to socialize outside an academic environment. The trip offered a variety of adventures from swimming, snorkelling and kayaking to fishing and collecting live oysters and shells.

IMG_4992.JPG“This was a great experience for students who not only got the chance to visit a neighbouring country but also experience an authentic Arabic boat,” said Shweta Wahi, co-organizer of the event. “All in all it was a success and we can’t wait for the next trip!”
Students expressed their thanks on social media to the organizers, Student Life Officer Srishti Chetty and Social Media Specialist Shweta Wahi for a great experience and are looking forward to more trips like this in the future.

"It was a wonderful experience and my first trip to Musandam. I thank Srishti Chetty and Shweta Wahi from the student life team for organizing an amazing trip.”, said Sasha S, a Murdoch undergraduate student.
