Sport360 Superstar: Team Hiba

Murdoch Student Testimonial

For Journalism and Screen Production graduate Hiba Khan, internships were the pathway to success in the professional world. She sharpened her editorial skills as an Online Editor with Mother and Baby Magazine at ITP Publishing Group, learned the ropes of PR as Community Manager for Young Network and acclimatized to the busy newsroom in her current role as Features Writer for Sport360.

Tell me about your job duties.

I work as a Features Writer and I cover events, post videos and make sure the website is up to date with news wires.

What did you learn from your internship experience?

It taught me how to be professional and showed me the dynamics of a workplace so I knew what to expect when I got a job. I’ve learned how to fulfil all my tasks and I know what’s expected of me. I can deal with clients on a professional level and am able to communicate and moderate my behaviour. I’ve also learned what it feels like to be a journalist and get hands on experience; I’ve been taught how to publish on a website, how to use news wires and related software and I also know how to tackle PR people!

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done at Sport360?

I covered a Hollywood movie shoot that was an action/comedy flick about Parkour; I met amazing stuntmen such as Andrew Garfield’s stunt double in Spiderman and Daniel Ilabaca, a renowned parkour practitioner and his students who are major Youtube celebrities and have a lot going on online. I met Hollywood people like scriptwriters and got to see what a serious movie set looked like, so it was an overwhelming experience for me.

What do you do for fun when you’re not working?

I like to watch French, Japanese and Korean films, learn different languages and read classics like Dickens and Christie.
