When Bilal Bhaila graduated with a double degree in Finance and Marketing he wasn’t about to rest on his laurels. After graduating from Murdoch, he began researching advertising and PR agencies across Dubai and contacting their HR departments; Ogilvy were the first to return his call and the rest is history.

For the 2013 grad who grew up in the UAE, Murdoch was the perfect fit. “I was initially planning on going to Australia, so Murdoch was an ideal option,” he said. An added advantage was that was that Bilal was able to stay with his family while studying towards his degree.

For Bilal, a typical day on the job includes checking the news, identifying industry insights, reaching out to the media as well as pitching ideas and drafting press releases.

He feels his time at Murdoch has given him an edge. “Doing the double major gave me leverage over others, especially when it comes to drafting corporate financial reports and press releases,” he said.

The finance degree provided him with the industry know-how and aids him in analysing reports, while the marketing degree taught him about product placement, consumer behaviour and branding.

Bilal is proud to be part of a multinational corporation like Ogilvy. Memac Ogilvy is part of Ogilvy and Mather Worldwide, one of the largest marketing communications networks in the world, with over 450 offices in over 100 countries. Ogilvy and Mather is owned by WPP plc – one of the "big four" global advertising and public relations holding companies. Bilal’s clients include: Samsung and Cisco, Paul’s Bakery and more recently, Nissan.
