About Screen Production (BMedia)

Lights, camera, action! Yes, it’s clichéd but that’s what it’s all about!
Practically, our Screen Production degree seeks to teach you the practical elements of film and TV production – we even have a TV production studio to help you learn in a real-life environment. The degree not only sees you out and about filming, up to all hours of the night editing, writing and producing your own scripts, but we also provide you with an understanding of the industry, both within UAE and internationally. You will also learn about new media applications that have an impact on screen – think about animation, special effects and so on.

What can I do with my Media degree?

Wow, think about the diversity of options, do you want to see work in TV, film, radio, media communications, public relations, marketing, advertising…the list goes on. Depending on your area of specialisation and the unit mix you choose to take, your Murdoch studies can prepare you for a range of roles within the media industries.

Jacopo Mangiapane - Double Majors - Screen Production and Public Relations

'Making films was just a dream for me back then, but now that I’m making them, it’s a reality.'

I chose to come to Dubai and found that Murdoch had the strongest courses in Screen Production, as well as cool people who I saw on its social media pages. I get easily inspired by clowns or people who go beyond the usual ways of behaving. So I placed my bet on joining Murdoch and it turned out to be true.

I’m a first year student majoring in Screen production with a minor in Public Relations. Making films was back then just a dream for me, but now that I'm making them, it's a reality and the best future I can think of, whether in the UAE or abroad.

When I think of Murdoch, the very talented but crazy nature of teachers and students; the media facilities and the intimacy of the small place, are the key things that come to my mind. And of course how can I forget my favourite piece of equipment – the coffee machine.

Most of the teachers that I've got to know here have their own unique personalities, but with Mr Gerhard there's a silent mutual understanding that always strikes me. He knows what it really takes to be great, which I believe is a key factor in a teacher.

A regular 9 to 5 job is really not my thing. Working in the film industry is much more than that, so I'll have to walk that extra-mile to get to write, direct, and act in my own movies. All I wish to say is that when all falls down, toughen up and clown around.
