About Public Relations (BCommun)
People today, particularly young people, are incredibly media savvy. You probably already have your own personal PR profile out there in the public arena through Facebook; MySpace or your on-line avatars. Turn that basic understanding into an exciting and global career in Public Relations. With a Public Relations degree you’ll learn the theory and practicalities behind campaign management, strategic planning, issues management and the relationship between public relations and other communication professions. Combined with writing and professional communication subjects you’ll be ready to launch.
What can I do with my Public Relations degree?
Most entities, whether private businesses or Government Departments, have a strong need for public relations experts to guide them through the minefield of media profile and public perception. You may choose to go into media relations, community consultation and promotion in any number of areas; from multinational mining companies through to the small charities and NGO’s, it’s all up to you.

What our students say
Currently studying: Screen Production and Public Relations
'The hands-on experience gained during workshops in the studio were most beneficial in putting theory into practice.'
Murdoch has a five star employment rating and has an excellent reputation on a global scale. The reason I chose Murdoch was partly based on my first visit here which allowed me to meet the staff. Their family oriented attitude is what set them apart from other educational institutes I’ve attended and helped me in making my decision. I recently moved to Dubai and Murdoch was a great transition into feeling at home. Being immersed in a multicultural environment I have had the opportunity to exchange experiences on an international playing field.
Currently I am a first year student majoring in Screen Production. The highlights of this course are finding out what work went on behind the scenes and the expectations of a media professional in pre-production, production and post-production. The slider in collaboration with the Canon 60D camera is my favourite selection of equipment due to its cinematic feel.
As a child I fell in love with the silver screen. To have a Major that allows me to pursue my passion is a privilege. Having been involved with music scene and writing, the creativity of screen production was a fitting match for me.
I find all the lecturers both passionate and well versed in their subject matter. They are willing to go out of their way to accommodate different levels of expertise. Mr. Gerhard Meyer has been an inspiration to me. He has honestly inspired me to put to my educational and personal development. Naz and Jacopo, with their dedication to the field are inspirational figures for the students.
Upon graduation, I want to continue writing screen plays and hopefully work my way up to directing.
