What our students say
Maria D'Costa - Double Majors - Computer Science and Business Information Systems
'I like the fact that the IT courses are well-rounded here– they're not just about technology, but have a combined business aspect as well.'
Right from high school my favourite subjects were informatics and programming databases, so I had no doubt in choosing to study a double degree in Computer Science and Business Information Systems at Murdoch. I am truly grateful to have received a 100% scholarship to Murdoch upon joining and also to have received the 2014 Vice Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence.
When I visited the campus and looked around I was attracted by the fact that it was a small campus and there would be a lot of teacher student interaction. This helpful and friendly nature of faculty, staff and students is conducive to a good studying environment that is both encouraging and supportive.
I made it a point to utilise most of my time at Murdoch in participating in extra events like the 2015 Gulf Programming competition, visiting Google’s Dubai offices and even attempting to trek Mount Everest in Nepal.
The trip to Nepal offered life lessons. Though terrifying, I’m thankful for the leadership of our team members. They were really decisive, always made the right decisions and took care of us; it has been one experience I’ll never forget. We helped and supported each other as a group and accomplished our goal even though we never set a foot on the mountain.
The experience I’ve gained from Murdoch has helped me extend my IT interests outside of the classroom. Currently I am learning GitHub and Android mobile development. In my downtime I am also a fan of reading classics from Jane Eyre and Charlotte Bronte to Jane Austen. Down the lane, I look forward to seeing myself work with one of the major IT giants in Dubai.
